When and where is Internet Librarian?

Internet Librarian 2005 will take place October 24-26 in Monterey, California. The three-day event is preceded by two days of workshops.

 

Will there be an Exhibit Hall?

Yes, the Internet Librarian conference is held in conjunction with an Exhibit Hall. View the current exhibitor list.

How much does it cost to attend Internet Librarian?

Pricing information is available on the registration page.

 

What does my registration fee include?

The registration fee includes: participation in any conference track for each day booked (delegates may switch between the four scheduled tracks as they choose); admission to the Exhibit Hall; conference bag with materials including a copy of the Collected Presentations (presentation papers/handouts); grand opening reception in the Exhibit Hall on Monday night; a continental breakfast each morning before the keynote session; and, morning and afternoon refreshment breaks. Pre-conference workshops are priced separately.

How do I register for Internet Librarian?

You may register using our secure payment server, via phone by calling 609/654-6266 or 800/300-9868, or completing and faxing the registration form to 609/654-4309. 

 

How can I make discounted hotel arrangements?

The Internet Librarian conference has arranged for room blocks at the Monterey Marriott and the Portola Plaza Hotel. Reservation information is available on the hotel page.

Two hotels are offering the discounted group rate. Is one hotel more convenient than the other?

The Monterey Marriott and the Portola Plaza Hotel are both connected to the Monterey Conference Center. No matter which hotel you choose the registration area, conference sessions, and the exhibit hall are equally convenient to access.

 

I need to book air travel. What options do I have?

Three airlines offer direct service to the Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY) via international and domestic connecting routes in Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO) and directly from Phoenix (PHX). The Monterey Peninsula Airport is serviced by American Eagle, America West and United Express. The Monterey Peninsula Airport is approximately 5 miles from the hotels. The San Francisco Airport is approximately 100 miles from the hotels. For additional information visit the Monterey County Convention and Visitors Bureau Web site.

Will I receive a registration confirmation?

All registrants will receive confirmation of their registration by mail.

 

Where will the registration area be located in Monterey?

The Internet Librarian registration desks will be located in the Portola Lobby of the Monterey Conference Center (Level One). Registration hours are as follows:

Saturday, October 22 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Sunday, October 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday, October 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 25 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, October 26 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

I'm bringing my laptop with me. Will wireless Internet access be available?

The Monterey Conference Center, Monterey Marriott, and the Portola Plaza Hotel all offer wireless Internet access for a fee. Each venue offers it's own service, and is not affiliated with Information Today, Inc. or Internet Librarian. Please contact each venue separately for additional information. (Laptops with wireless cards are required to access the network, and are the responsibility of the attendee.)

 

What is the dress code for the conference?

The dress code is business casual.

Is there anything that I should bring with me to the conference to be better prepared?

Each attendee will receive a conference bag that includes a pen, final program (with updated session titles, speakers, descriptions, etc), and a copy of the Collected Presentations (presentation papers/handouts). You may wish to bring a pad of paper and highlighter for note taking, and business cards for networking purposes. Some attendees also find it helpful to bring a light sweater or jacket in case session room temperatures fluctuate.

Will the Internet Librarian conference sessions be recorded?

Yes, a CD-ROM is available for purchase through The Digital Record. The CD-ROM features audio and supplemental materials (such as PowerPoint slides) for many of the sessions at Internet Librarian. Digital Record staff will be onsite to take orders and answer questions. Orders are shipped approximately 6 weeks after the event. Workshops are not recorded.

Is parking available?

Public parking is available one block from the Monterey Conference Center off of Del Monte Avenue. Rates for the West Custom House lot are 1st hour free, $0.50 for each additional hour for a maximum charge of $8.00 for the day. The East Custom House lot has no in and out privileges and is a $5.00 a day flat fee upon entry, accepts coins, bills and Visa and MasterCard credit cards. How should I arrange for special needs?

Attendees with special needs in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) should inform Information Today, Inc. and the hotel in writing of their needs immediately upon registering for Internet Librarian 2005.

 

May I tape any portion of the Internet Librarian conference?

Information Today welcomes blog coverage of our conferences. The content of individual talks, presentation graphics, and handouts belongs to the speakers and/or conference organizers and may not be duplicated or distributed in whole or in substantial part, by print, electronic, or any other means, without the express written consent of Information Today, Inc.

Written permission is required to publish, broadcast, or otherwise distribute transcripts or audio/video recordings of any talk or session by any means, including "podcasting." Brief excerpts and quotes are permitted in the context of a critical review or broadcast segment. Please link to official transcripts, handouts, or other media objects hosted at the speakers' or Information Today's Web sites.

How do I obtain a press pass?
