Net Initiatives for Tough Times: Digital Publishing, Preservation & Practices
We live and work in challenging times. How can our digital practices solve our current dilemmas? Our conference theme,
‘Net Initiatives for Tough Times: Digital Publishing, Preservation, & Practices, emphasizes creative and innovative internet
techniques and practices being used in library and information services to meet today’s challenges — the many creative ways in
which information is published, accessed and shared by libraries, information professionals and their communities. The conference
highlights focuses on exciting new initiatives and innovations in all types of information enterprises, tools and techniques for
enhancing user-friendly digital information flows, fresh ideas for traditional and emerging roles and values of information professionals,
information discovery and visualization methods for dealing with today’s information overload, building new communities and supporting
online connections in engaging ways.
Internet Librarian 2009 caters to all interests and all levels of knowledge with four simultaneous tracks plus many
workshop and networking opportunities. Join us at the most comprehensive conference for library and information professionals interested
in technology to discover the insights, strategies and practices that allow us to push the envelope in expanding the net, manage libraries
and digital information, and enhance the information sharing and learning experience of people in our communities.
Internet Librarian 2009 provides attendees with many chances to meet and hear from leading edge information professionals
in all types of environments—leaders in the information industry who are integrating content and delighting their clients, organizing
and managing digital content in creative ways, setting the context for excellence in information utilization in their organizations,

Library Camp Monterey @ Monterey Public Library
Saturday, October 24 — 9:30 p.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Join us at the Monterey Public Library for an interactive discussion about people, technology, and libraries. Bring
your war stories and your questions and be prepared to share—this is definitely NOT a “sage on the stage” event.
(PowerPoints are forbidden!) This unstructured conversation may range from web development to info

Gaming & Gadgets Petting Zoo
Sunday, October 25 — 5:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Join our gamers and gadget lovers for an evening of fun and playing. Bring your latest games and gadgets and try out each others’.
See if you are a guitar hero, winning Wii bowler/golfer, or rank as a dancing DDR expert. Led by gamer/gadget gurus Aaron Schmidt
and Erik Boekesteijn, this evening is not only filled with fun, networking, and of course, learning and laughing but it introduces a new
library game developed and designed by high school students in the Netherlands. See Dark Ink’s world premiere!

Opening Reception
Information Today Inc. invites all conference registrants and exhibitors to a special Exhibit Hall opening reception on

Rockin’ Battle Decks
Join our evening of fun and music featuring our first-ever “Battle Decks Spectacular!” Also known as “PowerPoint Karaoke,” our willing participants make a
coherent presentation based on hand-selected, seemingly unrelated slides that they see for the first time live on stage. After a fantastic musical interlude,
the participants face judgment, with the winner to be determined based on overall awesomeness. Hilarity, along with some learning, is guaranteed for all!

Pre-conference workshops on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, October 24 & 25 cover a wide range of topics including our popular
