Today, Inc. Unveils Listing Campaign for Directory
of the Independent Information Industry
Information entrepreneurs
and consultants invited to submit their business profile
for Information Services Market Place: The World Directory
of Independent Information Professionals
February 16, 2005 Medford, New
Jersey — Information Today,
Inc. (ITI) announces the launch of
a listing campaign for Information
Services Market Place (ISMP): The World
Directory of Independent Information
Professionals. In development
throughout 2004, ISMP is designed to
serve as the comprehensive international
directory of individuals and firms
in this fast-growing segment of the
information industry.
Independent information professionals,
consultants, and companies in the industry
can submit information for their free
listing by visiting www.ismp.info and
completing the online form. Each entry
will feature an overview of the business
and complete contact details. In addition,
a variety of logo and advertising placement
options will be available to those who
wish to enhance their basic entry.
“Information Today has long recognized
the impact of independent information
professionals in our industry, delivering
vital information to decision makers
every day and shaping their clients’ use
of the Internet,” said Tom Hogan,
Sr., President of ITI. “Now we
invite these innovators and entrepreneurs
to join us in creating an exciting new
resource for the marketplace with a listing
in ISMP.”
ISMP will be the first resource to
track the profession on a global scale. “Since
we announced the launch and began our
market research, we have been flooded
with inquiries for listings from all
corners of the world,” said Suzanne
Sabroski, editor of ISMP. “We are
very excited to begin the data-collection
process and look forward to shaping
this product for publication. ISMP stands
ready to raise awareness of the value
of independent information professionals
in the global community.”
To present a complete overview of the
independent information profession, vendors
and professional associations servicing
the industry will also be invited to
participate. As a comprehensive directory,
ISMP promises to become an essential
reference in the new Information Economy
as a networking tool among end-users.
Scheduled for release in late 2005, it
will be published in both print and electronic
formats. The web version will be available
as an annual subscription or on a pay-as-you-go
basis.
About the Independent Information
Profession
Companies worldwide are increasingly
using the services of independent information
professionals to perform online and primary
research, gather competitive intelligence,
and create databases, websites, and intranets.
Representing a cross-section of library
science, business, and scientific disciplines,
information professionals around the
world are offering their services for
direct sale. Reflecting the sector’s
growth, the U.S. Census Bureau recently
developed a range of industry classification
codes for the profession in the North
American Industrial Classification System
(NAICS). In addition, organizations such
as the Association of Independent Information
Professionals (AIIP) have seen an increase
in membership numbers in recent years. ISMP was
developed in response to growing demands
for an international directory of information
professionals.
