Erich Bremer is the Associate Director for Department of Medical Informatics, School of Medicine, Stony Brook University and is the chair of the Academic Research Computing and Networking Group.  In Medical Informatics, he oversees the information technology for academics, administration, and research including software development, systems and infrastructure development, and networking.  His interests include Semantic Web, data visualization, artificial intelligence and pattern recognition, virtual and augmented reality, and collaborative technologies such as video teleconferencing-telepresence and social networking software.  He holds a BS and MS in Computer and Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
