| | Robyn Truslow, Public Relations Coordinator and IT Supervisor for Calvert Library, has enjoyed her position since 2001. Having come from a family of early adopters, Robyn played games and ran biorhythms on her father’s HP calculator as a child, learned BASIC on an IBM PC in 1981, became a speed typist on the first Mac when it came out in 1984 and is currently looking into the best root to use on her HTC Thunderbolt. In her house at the moment of drafting this bio, there are approximately thirteen devices capable of e-reading (is that unlucky?). She also has 75 paper books checked out and believe it or not, her five-year old heads for the library basket before he asks for “Angry Angry Birds.”
A fan of borrowing from others, Robyn Truslow gathered intel from various libraries before pursuing a grant to circulate e-readers. Every week for the past couple years, the team at Calvert Library has an ad hoc “e-reader conversation.” They are currently circulating 18 Kindles and 56 NOOKcolors and are comfortable sharing what they have learned and even what they haven’t! |
