Information Today
Vol. 39 No. 8 — October 2022
EDITOR'S NOTE
We’ve Got Content Covered
by Brandi Scardilli

The job of the information professional to help people find, sort, understand, and make use of all kinds of content is a daunting one. Information Today aims to help info pros zero in on the trends and products/services that can help them do that job. This issue looks at content through four lenses: acquisition, discovery, comprehension, and analysis.

Acquisition: On page 16, Jessica Hilburn discusses the results of a survey she did on demand-driven acquisition, aiming to find out how librarians make purchasing decisions and how their approaches may have changed in the digital world. Discovery: On page 32, David Haden shares his favorite open search tools for finding open arts and humanities content. Comprehension: On page 12, Justin Hoenke looks at the Kudos Knowledge Cooperatives, a new type of resource for helping people learn about COVID-19, climate change, and more. Analysis: On page 19, Dave Shumaker explores the censorship wave and provides suggestions on how librarians can respond, and on page 30, Kelly LeBlanc does another dark patterns deep dive—this time, focused on confirshaming.

Happy reading, Brandi Scardilli
