 Last issue, Information Today was very U.S.-focused. This time, we get some perspectives from other countries. Asma Hedi Nairi reminds us that other nations are facing authoritarian threats—her academic research focuses on Tunisian political cartoons and satire in the digital sphere and how they are disappearing at an alarming rate (page 16). Kashyap Kompella takes readers to Vatican City, where Pope Leo XIV issued an encyclical that outlines the Catholic Church’s attitudes about AI. Kompella compares it to the 1891 encyclical confronting the Industrial Revolution (page 18). Sureshkrishnan Ramakrishnan, a visiting researcher in Hungary, discusses the importance of precise metadata in OER discoverability (page 25).
Speaking of precise metadata, a library has to ensure that its OPAC is working well for its patrons. Clare Bilobrk offers advice for evaluating your OPAC (page 13). And Crystal Trice provides three questions librarians must ask themselves before digging into the world of AI (page 11).
