Information Today Announces Slate of May 2004 Conferences

December 19, 2003, Medford, NJ—Information Today, Inc. (ITI) has announced that it is organizing three conferences and one exhibition to run concurrently in May 2004 at the Hilton New York. The three conferences, to be held May 11-12, 2004, are WebSearch University, Streaming Media East, and Enterprise Search Summit ’04. The exhibition will be an integral part of the Streaming Media East conference.

The company has also announced that its InfoToday Conference & Exhibition (formerly the National Online Meeting), which has been held in May for the past 24 years, will skip 2004 and be relaunched as a major national and international event in 2005. “Exhibitors at InfoToday 2003 told us that we needed to reinvent the May meeting in order to bring in the new breed of information buyers,” said Tom Hogan, Sr., CEO of Information Today, Inc. “We simply needed more time to do that, and we are very optimistic that the extra year will enable us to accomplish that mission. We have already received a flood of ideas and suggestions that we are currently exploring. It’s very exciting—a new beginning after all these years.”

For the first time, the popular WebSearch University will be held in New York, May 11-12, 2004, with pre-conference workshops scheduled for Monday, May 10th. WebSearch University provides an intensive learning opportunity where competitive intelligence specialists, market researchers, financial analysts, and librarians can get “beyond Google,” update their search skills, and learn new tactics and strategies. The faculty includes search gurus Gary Price, Greg Notess, Mary Ellen Bates, Ran Hock, and other experts who keep up with the details of constantly changing search engine algorithms and enhancements, and who know the nuances of when to look where for what kinds of information. The program also features tutorials from a small number of vendor/sponsors and a tabletop display area.

Streaming Media East returns to New York in 2004 on May 11-12, with workshops on Monday, May 10th. Streaming Media East 2004 is poised to build on the buzz and enthusiasm that was apparent at last fall’s California event. As the economy rebounds, the use of streaming technology in business, education, and government organizations is becoming mainstream. Streaming Media East 2004 is where technology and business professionals will gather to explore business applications and implementation strategies that maximize the potential of streaming technologies, as well as to discuss the future of the industry itself. The 2-day event features an exhibit hall and a multi-track conference in addition to other ancillary industry events.

Enterprise Search Summit ’04 is being organized for the first time as a 2-day conference (May 11-12, 2004) for IT managers, information & knowledge architects, content managers, and Web publishers and developers. It will address internal search and findability (and related topics such as taxonomies, categorization, and classification), which is a thorny issue for many organizations dealing with the management and integration of structured and unstructured content from a myriad of sources. Enterprise Search Summit will be an intensive, tightly focused event offering practical, in-depth, how-to information about selecting and implementing enterprise search software and functionality. The program will include tutorials from a limited number of vendor/sponsors and a tabletop display area.
