Nancy
Dowd is the Director of Marketing for the New Jersey State Library
where she incorporates her career experiences as an editor, writer,
presenter and marketer to produce effective and replicable marketing
strategies for libraries. Her work has received awards from ALA and
NJLA. She is the author of two blogs, The M Word and The Best of
Library Videos. Nancy's marketing campaigns incorporating web 2.0
technologies with traditional marketing techniques range from
partnering with Diamond Comics Free Comic Book Day to launch a comic
book and YouTube contest featuring New Jersey's very own Super
Librarian, to starting an viral campaign featuring a video, that was
awarded the 2006 InfoTubey Award. Her marketing campaign featuring the
Easy Readers calendar transformed the image of librarians to a whole
new level and received international attention including news coverage
in almost every major newspaper in the United States including the New
York Times and personal appearances on Good Morning America and The
Caroline Rhea Show. She is presently writing a book on marketing that
ALA expects to publish this year.
