Carol Anne Germain, Networked Resources Education Librarian, University at Albany
Carol Anne Germain is the Networked Resources Education Librarian. In this position, she teaches information literacy courses and develops web-based instructional resources. Her research interests include Web usability, the persistence of URLs in academic resources, and information literacy. She is currently collaborating with several colleagues on a study focusing on Web usability practice and policy in ARL libraries. The initial findings from this work were published in the article "An exploration into the practices of library Web usability in ARL academic libraries," from the Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology's May 2009 issue. Additional results from this research will be presented at the annual American Society for Information Science and Technology conference in a peer-reviewed paper entitled, "An analysis of formally published usability and Web usability definitions." Ms. Germain is currently working on her Ph.D. in Informatics. The title of her dissertation is "Maintaining persistent scholarship: An analysis of the accessibility rate of cited electronic resources within doctoral dissertations."
