Logitech TrackMan Live!
by Mike Ballard

PRODUCT REVIEWS column presents a favorable review of the Logitech TrackMan Live! ($150) from Logitech Inc. of Fremont, CA (800, 510). Describes the product as a cordless, hand-held trackball which allows the control of presentations up to 30 feet away from a computer, without having to point the device at the system. Requires Windows 3.1/95/98 or NT 4.0, an open serial or PS/2 port, and an 3.5-inch disk drive for software installation. Notes that the trackball movement is smooth and even, and tactile response from the three mouse buttons is crisp and responsive. Warns that a small problem with cross-talk occurred when used at high power (for distances greater than 6 feet) in a room where another TrackMan Live! was in use. Says that although the cost is steep, it is highly recommended for those who regularly use a computer for large group activities. Contains one photo and a scorecard.
