Dialog’s Intranet Delivery Tool Enhances Information Management

The Dialog Corporation has announced the Intranet Delivery Tool, an enhancement to the Dialog Intranet Toolkit that enables information professionals to easily share Dialog’s customized current awareness alerts and interactive search results with the entire organization over the corporate intranet.

With their knowledge of the company’s information needs and Dialog search expertise, information professionals can now create robust information intranet sites to provide the latest updates and other Dialog data. The entire organization can now benefit from Dialog’s content, which includes science, technical, engineering, patent, and trademark data.

According to the company, the Intranet Delivery Tool is a powerful supplement to the Dialog Intranet Toolkit, which was launched in February. The Intranet Toolkit enables organizations to establish customized intranet sites, allowing end users to search Dialog’s databases. Now, with the addition of the Intranet Delivery Tool, organizations can also create intranet sites to display customized Dialog alerts and interactive search results. Users can track new information as soon as it is published to keep pace with the most up-to-date information from tens of thousands of authoritative sources. Current awareness information can be combined with archived information to build a comprehensive repository on a particular topic or project.

With the Intranet Delivery Tool, Dialog data can be categorized according to its application, such as company and competitor news, industry headlines, or research and development. The Delivery Tool provides a design for the site, or information professionals can design their own sites by modifying templates. The site can be incorporated into other research sites created with the Intranet Toolkit, or it can be linked back to those areas for additional information. Once the site is set up, information professionals can take advantage of Dialog’s search engine to create searches that pinpoint the exact information needed, according to the announcement.

Alert and search output can be distributed from the products that support Dialog command language—DialogClassic, DialogClassic for the Web, and DialogWeb. The Dialog Electronic Redistribution and Archiving Service allows customers to legally archive Dialog information.

The Intranet Delivery Tool is provided at no additional cost as part of the Dialog Intranet Toolkit. It can also be purchased separately with the option to upgrade to the Toolkit at a later date.

“With the right tools, businesses can rely on intranets to improve their overall business performance and drive revenues,” said Jason Molle, president of Dialog in the Americas. “The Intranet Delivery Tool and the Intranet Toolkit provide a uniquely powerful information solution by putting valuable, timely information in exactly the right hands.”
