Reactions to Online Information '99: a conference-goer's modest proposal

our time: search tools, portals, intranets, and knowledge
management. Highlights Stephen Arnold's presentation, which traced
the evolution of online and projected it into the future. Describes
a panel session addressing Web-induced changes in business that
ended with a session on competitive intelligence. Laments that at
the dawn of new achievements and armed with sophisticated Web tools,
conference goers are still struggling in dark cavernous rooms with
