Annual Review of Information Science and Technology (ARIST) Volumes 34 and 35

Two new volumes in the scholarly series are published

November 30, 2001, Medford, NJ — Information Today, Inc. (ITI) announced the publication of Volumes 34 and 35 of the Annual Review of Information Science and Technology (ARIST), edited by Martha E. Williams and published by ITI on behalf of the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIST).

Since 1966, ARIST has been continuously at the cutting edge in contributing a useful and comprehensive view of the broad field of information science and technology. ARIST reviews numerous topics within the field and provides this annual source of ideas, trends, and references to the literature. The series encompasses the entire field in all its aspects, and topics for the annual volume are elected on the basis of timeliness and an assessment of reader interest.

The contents of Volume 34 include: Cognitive Information Retrieval; Methodologies and Methods for User Behavioral Research; Informetrics; Literature Dynamics: Studies on Growth, Diffusion, and Epidemics; Measuring the Internet; Applications of Machine Learning in Information Retrieval; Text Mining; and Using and Reading Scholarly Literature.

The contents of Volume 35 include: The Concept of Situation in Information Science; Conceptual Frameworks in Information Behavior; Distributed Information Management; Digital Privacy: Toward a New Politics and Discursive Practice; Subject Access Points in Electronic Retrieval; Methods of Generating and Evaluating Hypertext; Digital Preservation; Knowledge Management; and Library and Information Science Education in the Nineties.

Professor Martha E. Williams, the editor of ARIST Volumes 34 and 35, assumed the editorship of the scholarly series with Volume 11. As a chemist and information scientist, she has brought to ARIST a breadth of knowledge and experience in information science and technology. She has published numerous books and papers, maintained worldwide statistics on databases for over 25 years, and served on the editorial board of several journals. She is founder and president of Information Market Indications, Inc. and consults for many governmental and commercial organizations.
