Nothing but ’Net at This Year’s Internet Librarian 2001 Conference and Exhibition in Pasadena, CA

July 18, 2001, Medford, NJ — Information Today, Inc. (ITI) is pleased to announce the programming for the fifth annual Internet Librarian conference and exhibition. The complete program is available online at www.infotoday.com/il2001.

Internet Librarian 2001 (November 6-8, Pasadena, CA) will feature four keynote sessions and over 100 speakers in five simultaneous tracks all built around the following key themes:

  • Content Management — Whether intranets, portals, taxonomies, or wireless applications, this 3-day stream of programs focuses on the tools, techniques, and experiences of those involved with content management.
  • Navigating the Net — With a special emphasis on virtual reference, Web searching, and search engines, each day of this 3-day stream is filled with experts.
  • WebWizard’s Symposium — This 3-day stream focuses on Web design, development, management, tools, and techniques, as well as a full-day focus on usability and interface design. 
  • Digital Reality — This is a 3-day stream that focuses on the strategies, services, contracting, and training that information professionals are dealing with in the current e-world and that which they will see more of in the future.
  • Internet@Schools — Hosted by MultiMedia Schools magazine, this 2-day series of programs is designed to address the practical concerns of librarians and media specialists who are using the Internet to improve learning in the K-12 system.
On Sunday, November 4 and Monday, November 5, Internet Librarian 2001 offers a complete range of full- and half-day workshops, including Searcher Academy. Led by Barbara Quint (Editor, Searcher Magazine) and Mary Ellen Bates (Bates Information), this full-day learning event will feature star-studded faculty as well as a host of tips, strategies, and searching techniques. The conference will also include an evening session on Tuesday, November 6 entitled, “The Tasini Decision: The End of Full Text as We Know It?” Sponsored by the Southern California Online Users Group (SCOUG), the evening will bring together executives from major database aggregators and search services, as well as Jonathan Tasini, president of the National Writers Union, to answer the host of questions that have arisen from the decision.
 

Internet Librarian 2001 Exhibition
Whether looking for ‘Net solutions, evaluating competing systems, or keeping up-to-date with the newest products and developments, visitors will find it at the 2001 Internet Librarian exhibition. Featuring over 70 booths, the exhibition covers all aspects of Internet technologies, including content providers, online services, software, document and Web delivery systems, search engines, and more. LexisNexis will once again sponsor the CyberConnection in the exhibit hall, providing workstations for surfing the Internet and checking e-mail.
