Information Today, Inc. Launches Four New Titles

Information Today, Inc. (ITI) has announced the release of four new publications.

Net Crimes & Misdemeanors
ITI has published Net Crimes & Misdemeanors: Outmaneuvering the Spammers, Swindlers, and Stalkers Who Are Targeting You Online, written by J. A. Hitchcock, a cybercrime expert who waged—and won—her own personal battle with cyberstalkers.

In the book, Hitchcock explains how individuals and business users of the Internet can protect themselves, their children, and their employees from online cheats and predators. She details a broad range of abusive practices; shares victims' stories (including her own); and provides practical advice on how to handle junk e-mail, privacy invasion, financial scams, cyberstalking, and identity theft. She offers useful tips and techniques and points to the laws, organizations, and Web sites that support victims and help them fight back. The book's Web site (http://www.netcrimes.net) provides readers with a regularly updated linked directory of important online resources.

Web of Deception
ITI has published Web of Deception: Misinformation on the Internet, edited by Anne P. Mintz with a foreword by Steve Forbes.

The book looks at the many ways in which intentionally misleading or erroneous information on the Web can wreak havoc on the health, privacy, investments, purchases, business decisions, and legal affairs of online users. Mintz—director of knowledge management at Forbes, Inc.—brought together 10 information experts to illuminate the issues and help readers recognize and deal with a flood of deception and misinformation in numerous fields and subject areas.

Bowker Almanac
ITI has announced the publication of The Bowker Annual Library and Book Trade Almanac 2002, 47th edition. Formerly published by R.R. Bowker and acquired by ITI last year, the almanac compiles a wealth of reports, statistical data, and insights into today's rapidly changing worlds of librarianship and publishing.

Completely updated each year, The Bowker Annual is an extensive compilation of reports on the activities of federal and national libraries and library and publishing organizations, reports on research, lists of bestsellers and other notable books and electronic media, literary award winners, valuable contact information, and much more.

American Library Directory
ITI has announced the publication of American Library Directory 20022003, a resource that provides access to comparative data, additional resources, and sales prospects for the entire U.S. and Canadian library communities.

Containing full profiles on public, academic, government, and special libraries, this totally updated 55th edition is organized by state and city. Each profile includes everything from the official library name, address, and key personnel, to expenditures, budgets, collections, and special services. Also available on CD-ROM, American Library Directory is the ideal guide for libraries, networks, agencies, and other establishments, according to the announcement.
