TLC/CARL, Ingram Library Services Enhance Interface

Ingram Library Services has announced two enhancements to its interface capabilities with TLC's CARL.Solution, an automation and management system for large libraries and consortia. These new offerings enable CARL.Solution Acquisitions users to increase productivity by streamlining processes and eliminating unnecessary steps in the ordering and receiving of library materials.

The new features are Electronic Invoicing (Receiving) and ipage integration, which comprises a custom brief MARC record output option that supports CARL.Solution's 945 acquisitions tag processing. CARL.Solution Acquisitions users have had the ability to place orders with Ingram through the X12 format for some time. Now these two additional interface features will increase productivity and offer a seamless method of creating selection lists and/or creating order records for electronic transmission, according to the announcement.

Electronic invoicing and receiving represent significant savings in several ways, including error reduction, time, and labor. The e-invoice automatically attaches the individual invoice line to the exact order line without manual posting from paper.Paper invoices are still produced and mailedto customers for payment submission. Electronic invoices are available for all orders placed electronically via the Ingram CARL.Solution X12 order interface.
