|epixtech, Inc., a library automation company, and WebFeat, a company
that helps its clients search databases, have integrated WebFeat's database
search capabilities and epixtech's library automation systems. epixtech's
products include integrated library systems Dynix and Horizon Sunrise,
both of which will use WebFeat technology.
Julian Critchfield, epixtech's chief technology officer, described epixtech's
use of WebFeat: "It will provide a service we're calling Single Search
to access third-party databases. The integration of the WebFeat search
capabilities with epixtech's automation systems will allow a library patron
to access their library and locate the information in several different
data sources—articles, books, the Internet, and others—all in a single
search. There is a great deal of intelligence built into the system, which
allows broadcast searching over many different databases, including Internet-wide
searches, local library data sources, and PAC searching."
