Q Series version 2.003 features several enhancements, including location and date-range specification controls for the Bibliographic MARC Export option and further integration of the Serials and Circulation modules. Serials reporting has been enhanced along with a systemwide setup option to allow users to define their call number hierarchy. Also included is an upgrade to Q Series’ search engine, Excalibur Technology’s RetrievalWare 6.6, and additional program updates requested by Q Series users.
“As our base of Q Series users has grown rapidly, we are encouraged at the positive remarks we have received regarding the product. We are focusing our development resources on continuing to enhance the system based on the suggestions we are now receiving. Client input comprises a vital part of this release of the Q Series as it will in future product releases,” said Scot Cheatham, president and CEO of EOS International.
According to the release, the Q Series is a full-featured library information management system that provides sophisticated information retrieval with advanced searching options that overcome the limitations of Boolean searching. Q Series does this by providing additional tools, such as natural language querying, hypersearching, concept searching, and pattern matching. Through these tools and other features, the Q Series provides a single point of access to information from main and branch libraries’ collections, multimedia files, CD-ROMs, URL links, and commercially or internally published documents found on the Internet, intranets, and extranets.
