Ameritech Library Services system to be included in Smithsonian Institution exhibit


Announces that Ameritech Library Services' Horizon with Resource Sharing System, has been nominated for the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History, under the Computerworld Smithsonian Awards Program (CWSA). Says the library automation system is part of a collection of more than 400 technology innovations representing 40 states and 19 countries. Explains that the Horizon product line enables cataloging of Web resources as traditional media, and includes a Public Access Catalog for patron use. Adds that the Resource Sharing System facilitates lending materials between libraries, regardless of format, and enables patrons to submit requests and check status without staff involvement. Notes the CWSA "recognizes institutions that have demonstrated vision and leadership as they use information technology in innovative ways." Includes one photo.
