The Smithsonian Institution honors three CD-ROM software titles published by The Learning Company


Announces that three of The Learning Company's CD-ROM titles, the Learn to Speak foreign language series, LEGO Island, and The Complete National Geographic, have been nominated for a national Computerworld Smithsonian Award. Says all three titles will be added to the Smithsonian Institution's Permanent Research Collection on Information Technology Innovation, and notes the awards program honors those whose use of technology results in positive social, economic, and educational change. Adds the Learn to Speak series was nominated for the most innovative use of information technology, and LEGO Island and The Complete National Geographic were nominated in the media arts and entertainment category. Says the latter title is a collection of 30 CD-ROMs covering 9,000 articles from 1,200 issues of National Geographic magazine.
