CASPR Unveils LibraryWorld for Mac OS X

CASPR Library Systems, Inc., developer of LibraryWorld, LibraryNet, and LibraryCom, has announced LibraryWorld X, its new integrated library management program designed for Mac OS X, Apple's new operating system.

A powerful and technologically advanced library management system, according to the announcement, LibraryWorld X represents CASPR's aggressive support of Macintosh computers in libraries and emphasizes the company's commitment to providing modern technology in state-of-the-art products.

CASPR's library products were originally developed on the Macintosh in 1986, and have been consistently updated ever since. LibraryWorld now runs on all supported Microsoft and Apple operating systems and networks.

CASPR president Norman Kline said: "The clear winners are the small to medium-size libraries. They can trust their library system with LibraryWorld X and have the assurance that it's produced by a company that has demonstrated continued reliability and support of the Macintosh community. The release of LibraryWorld X signals a serious stepping up of CASPR's commitment to Macintosh through a vigorous investment in product technology."

With its fresh interface, LibraryWorld X successfully blends functionality with design, offering a smooth, at-your-fingertips work flow, according to the company. LibraryWorld X has been designed to take full advantage of Mac OS X's new Aqua interface. LibraryWorld X can be used on the same network database as LibraryWorld for Windows and LibraryWorld for OS9. Features include MARC cataloging, circulation, serials control, acquisitions, and online patron access.

LibraryWorld X was scheduled to be released at the end of 2001. Existing LibraryWorld Macintosh customers with support contracts will automatically get upgraded to LibraryWorld X.
