VertiNews.com Changes Name to Internet Publishing Group

VertiNews.com, Inc., an Internet company launched in February 1999, has changed its name to Internet Publishing Group, Inc. (http://www.ipgdirect.com). According to the announcement, the name change signifies the company’s successful track record for publishing online news for vertical markets, and at the same time positions the company for growth. Craig O. Allsopp, president and CEO of Internet Publishing Group, said the company’s new name more accurately reflects its existing business activities and its strategy to innovate and expand.

“Our young company, originally known as VertiNews.com, is quickly earning a reputation as an authoritative and credible builder of Web sites that publish B2B news and analysis with related services,” Allsopp said. “Renaming the company to Internet Publishing Group underscores our determination to establish IPGDirect.com as the dominant Internet site for breaking news, research, and information while offering associated e-commerce and collaborative services for business professionals.”

Allsopp said the core objective of IPGDirect.com is identical to that of VertiNews.com: creating online news services that deliver breaking news and inform decision makers about the latest developments in niche, or vertical, markets. Industry experts lead news teams that report on the latest activities and analyze business trends in each market. The company’s mission is to put IPGDirect.com to work for business professionals by providing ideas, answers, and information that can’t be found elsewhere. IPGDirect.com’s first news service, Commercial Real Estate Direct, was launched in July 1999.

According to the announcement, the second news service, Asian Assets Direct (launched in November 1999), is the only real-time news and information service focusing exclusively on foreign investors who are buying assets and distressed loans from Asian banks and corporations in South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan.

Internet Publishing Group, Inc., based in Pennington, New Jersey, was founded by five former executives from Dow Jones & Co., New York. The company’s clients include a list of Wall Street and commercial real estate firms as well as investment banks. According to the announcement, IPGDirect.com provides a context for decision making by giving subscribers a single point of access for original content and for related e-commerce and collaboration services.
