Mary Katherine Akers

Mary Kay Akers is the Instruction & Business Outreach Librarian at the Glen Ellyn Public Library, where she teaches social media integration and applied digital and information literacy. She began her public library career in 2001, teaching basic computers skills at the Cabell County Public Library in Huntington WV, and also worked for six years as a school librarian. A graduate of UIUC’s GSLIS (2005), Mary Kay co-designed and facilitated train-the-trainer workshops for underserved communities as part of UIUC’s Digital East St. Louis Collaborative.
