Edwin Henneken, Senior IT Specialist Smithsonian/NASA Astrophysics Data System, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory
Edwin Henneken has been working as a programmer for the ADS since 2002. He is responsible for developing and maintaining software used for harvesting and processing metadata, the extraction of metadata from PDF files and OCR results, and digital preservation. He is also involved in citation statistics and bibliometric research. He has a background in computational astrophysics (Leiden Observatory, The Netherlands) and micrometeorology, co-founded a Web-design and technical-translation business, and worked as an IT professional in the Internet industry.
