Lorette S.J. Weldon MLS, BA, BSIFSM, Research Director, Weldon Researchers MD/SLA Chapter Archivist; DC/SLA Webmaster; AIIP Web Manager

Lorette Weldon has had over 15 years of experience being a certified Information Professional (Master's of Library Science (MLS) and BS (Information Systems Management)).  She is currently a researcher and instructor in methods of working smarter for business professionals in the private, public, non-profit and government sectors.   She is the author of "My Virtual Assistant Saves the Day" with a focus on a two year doctoral study of SharePoint in a corporate library environment published by Information Today in their Computers in Libraries' November/December 2007 issue.   She has been continuing this doctoral research of using "cloud" tools to work smarter through her articles on SharePoint, Google and other cloud information management systems in the business and educational environment ( "Taking Your Library on the Road", Computers in Libraries.  May 2009:12-16; "Googlization of the Library Collection", Special Libraries Association's Information Outlook, April/May 2009 (Vol.13, No. 3); "Tools for Communicating with Trustees in a New York Minute", Trusteeship.  November/December 2007: 6; "Getting the Answers: One Consultant's Approach to Deciphering the Government", Special Libraries Association's Information Outlook, September 2005, p.33-34).  She will be speaking at Computers in Libraries 2010 on SharePoint and Information Professionals.  Ms. Weldon presented a poster on knowledge capture at the Catholic University of America School of Library and Information Science's 2010 Symposium.  She has also spoken at Special Libraries Association Conference 2009 on how to make MS SharePoint into a web organizational tool called the "Virtual Assistant".  Ms. Weldon has spoken about the Virtual Assistant through Google and MS SharePoint at Computers in Libraries 2009. Her Googlization method was also on display in the Poster Sessions of the Association of Independent Information Professionals' Conference 2009.  She has conducted, moderated and taught about higher education governance issues through webinars.  She has also presented at the Society of American Archivists' Information Archives Group, on August 2008, speaking on the topic of the "Googlization of a Library and My Virtual Assistant."
