Intel Play QX3 Computer Microscope School Edition
by Charles Doe

Presents a very favorable review of the Intel Play QX3 Computer Microscope School Edition ($99) from Intel Corporation of Santa Clara, CA (877, 408, 800). Relates that the Computer Microscope plugs into a computer and projects magnified 10x, 60x, or 200x images onto a computer screen, and the school edition includes a CD-ROM with more than 30 lessons for grades K-10. Requires Microsoft Windows 98, a 200MHz or faster processor, 32MB RAM, 4X CD-ROM, a 800 x 600 monitor, video- and sound-compatibility with DirectX, and a Universal Serial Bus (USB) port. Warns that the USB technology is found on newer computers and will pose an obstacle in many school districts with older computers. However, states that it is such an outstanding tool for educational use that it is worth buying a computer especially to use with it. Rated five on a scale of one to five. Contains one photo and a scorecard.
