Online Reader CD-ROM and Web Editions
by Charles Doe
Presents a very favorable review of Online Reader CD-ROM and Web
Editions ($995 to start) from EBSCO Publishing of Ipswich, MA (800,
978). Describes the product as a database of text articles, tests,
and management tools designed to improve student reading
comprehension and standardized test-taking skills for students in
grades 4-12. Requires (for stand-alone use) a 486 or greater
computer, Windows 95/NT, 16MB RAM, a monitor with a VGA video card,
and use of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Relates that use of the Web
edition requires contacting EBSCO to set up an account with password
access. Says that teachers can use it to improve student
comprehension of informational material, provide background
information, improve student test-taking skills, and much more.
Rated five on a scale of one to five.
