Encarta Reference Suite 2000
by Marge Congress

Presents a very favorable review of Encarta Reference Suite 2000 ($100) from Microsoft Corp. of Redmond, WA (425). Describes it as a four CD-ROM set for middle and high school students that includes Encarta's Deluxe Encyclopedia, Interactive World Atlas, and World English Dictionary. Requires a minimum of a Pentium 90, Windows 95/98/NT, 133MB hard disk space, 24-32MB RAM, 4X CD-ROM drive, Super VGA monitor, local bus video with 1MB memory, mouse and 16-bit sound card with speakers. Recommends access to the Internet for updates and Web links, and 2MB hard disk space for monthly updates. States that it is so immense, costs so little, and provides so much information that every discipline in the school would have numerous reasons to assign research from it. Rated five on a scale of one to five. Includes a scorecard and a screen display.
