Online, Inc. Announces New Editors for EContent, ONLINE Magazines

Online, Inc. has named new editors for two of its business-to-business (B2B) magazines as part of a corporate reorganization. Effective with the January and February 2001 issues of the magazines, Bill Mickey will become editor of EContent, and Marydee Ojala will be editor of ONLINE. Mickey was formerly editor of ONLINE, and Ojala held the same position at EContent magazine. Ojala will also continue her interest in EContent as editor at large.

“Marydee is the ultimate information professional,” said Nancy Garman, vice president of Online, Inc.’s EContent Group. “Her understanding and commitment to the online industry from the perspective of an information professional bring important insights and expertise to ONLINE. We’re also very pleased to have Bill onboard as editor of EContent. His experience and interests are especially valuable as we expand the magazine and focus on broader coverage of the content industry.”

As editor of EContent, Mickey will oversee the transition of the magazine in 2001 from a bimonthly research-oriented publication to a monthly magazine covering strategies and resources for the digital content industry. According to the company, EContent will be the only Internet-business publication that concentrates solely on electronic content, the content infrastructure, and the business of digital content. Under Ojala’s direction, ONLINE will reinforce its stature as “the leading magazine for information professionals,” and increase its coverage of resources, strategies, and trends related to that market.

Ojala has been affiliated with Online, Inc. for over 20 years as a columnist, feature writer, and conference presenter. She has been the proprietor of a successful information research company with offices in the U.S. and Europe, and formerly held library and information center positions at BankAmerica Corp. A fellow of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), she presently serves on its Government Affairs/Intellectual Property Committee. Ojala is also an active member of the Association of Independent Information Professionals, the American Library Association, the Utah Library Association, and the Utah Information Technology Association.

In addition to his editorial responsibilities at Online, Inc., Mickey has organized VirComm 2000, a conference for virtual community professionals, and has been closely involved with planning the Online World and Buying & Selling EContent conferences, also produced by Online, Inc.
