| Adobe Systems, Inc. has announced the release of Adobe GoLive 6.0 and
its Adobe Web Workgroup Server, both in one package. Adobe GoLive 6.0 software
offers site management and collaboration capabilities, wireless authoring,
and support for incorporating print and video content in the Web design
cycle. According to the announcement, this new version delivers features
that improve team collaboration and help creative professionals develop
content and deliver assets to different outlets in less time with greater
efficiency.
GoLive's Web Workgroup Server is a site management and collaboration
tool that allows multiple users to track changes and share and manage files.
It also provides version control and side-by-side comparison capabilities,
including the ability to roll back to previous versions. According to the
announcement, the Web Workgroup Server supports any WebDAV-enabled application
such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Macromedia Dreamweaver and
accelerates Web project development without forcing designers to change
their existing process.
Web professionals can develop content for mobile devices with GoLive's
new wireless authoring capabilities, including support for XHTML, CHTML,
and WML. In the Windows environment, GoLive offers built-in emulators for
Nokia WAP and XHTML phones and NTT DoCoMo i-mode phones.
GoLive 6.0 integrates with Adobe's family of professional design products,
including Adobe InDesign, LiveMotion, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Working
in conjunction with InDesign 2.0 (expected to ship the first quarter of
this year), it enables customers to adapt print content to the Web using
intuitive XML tags.
Other new Web development features include a full QuickTime 5.0 editing
environment with streaming conversion and optimization capabilities. GoLive
also provides a visual-authoring environment that utilizes video; audio;
SWF; SVG; and support for W3C standards like SMIL, which in turn are supported
by RealNetworks' RealOne player. This new version includes the ability
to deliver database-driven content and native support for common dynamic
scripting languages such as PHP, ASP, and JSP. These extensive server-side
scripting capabilities enable developers to link front-end Web designs
with back-end systems for e-commerce solutions. For a complete list of
