R.R. Bowker Announces Content Agreements with Infotrieve, ingenta

R.R. Bowker, a publisher of bibliographic information, has announced linking arrangements with Infotrieve and ingenta for ulrichsweb.com, a global Web-based source for detailed information about periodicals.

The agreement with Infotrieve, a Los Angeles-based company that provides article research and delivery, offers ulrichsweb.com users one-click access to the world's largest library of journal content, including a proprietary database (ArticleFinder) that contains more than 30 million citations and 20 million abstracts for journals in disciplines such as engineering, computer science, law, and education.

ulrichsweb.com users can now search the tables of contents available on Infotrieve for more than 20,000 scientific, technical, and medical journals. From title-level entries in the Ulrich's database, users can view article citations. There they can order full-text articles by clicking on embedded Infotrieve links.

ulrichsweb.com users will soon have access to other databases available through Infotrieve: MEDLINE, a medical database produced by the National Library of Medicine, and eContent, a pay-per-view service from Infotrieve that makes available 1.5 million documents for immediate online delivery.

The agreement with ingenta, a provider of academic and professional research articles online that recently merged with CatchWord, allows ulrichsweb.com subscribers to view the tables of contents for the more than 1,100 journals hosted at http://www.catchword.com. ingenta offers access to more than 25 million articles from 5,400 online journals.

"These two new linking arrangements make ulrichsweb.com an even more dynamic one-stop resource for librarians and their patrons worldwide, while also expanding accessibility through our site with two industry leaders on the Internet," said Michael Cairns, president of R.R. Bowker. "This is another step in our ongoing business plan to integrate the renowned ulrichsweb content with other important Web-based information resources and make it the definitive gateway to journal and full-text information."

ulrichsweb.com is a library reference tool that provides access to detailed information for over 250,000 serials from 80,000 publishers in more than 200 countries. It includes data on approximately 32,000 electronic full-text sources, over 24,000 refereed serials, and 58,000 titles that have ceased publication.
