According to the announcement, e-spin provides users with the same telephone numbers, addresses, and advertisements as Bell Atlantic’s printed Yellow and White Pages in the same format with which consumers are already familiar. The CD-ROM version, however, has viewing capabilities that allow users to zoom in and out—up to 175 percent.
“Bell Atlantic continues to be at the forefront of electronic technology by developing products that make information easy to find,” said Mary Jo Howe, vice president for Bell Atlantic Yellow Pages. “As the first regional telephone company to offer both Yellow and White Pages directories on CD-ROM, we prove our commitment to bringing customers comprehensive information in formats that suit a variety of lifestyles.”
For Bell Atlantic’s large-business customers and government agencies that normally order 100 or more copies of the printed Yellow Pages, e-spin offers environmental and storage benefits. In addition, users will benefit from convenient searching capabilities. With e-spin, users can search by business name, Yellow Pages heading, residential name, and even page number.
“We designed e-spin to be a convenience tool that complements Bell Atlantic’s printed directories and our Big Yellow online shopping directory,” said Richard Kelly, e-spin’s staff director of product marketing. “We see e-spin as a product of the future, with the potential to not only look up phone numbers or search for local services, but eventually to link to advertisers’ Web sites.”
e-spin users will be able to provide feedback on their experience with the CD-ROM version of the Bell Atlantic Yellow and White Pages via a customer survey on the CD-ROM.
