Elsevier Enhances EMBASE.com

Elsevier Science Bibliographic Databases has announced the release of EMBASE.com version 3.0, which features enhanced functionality and expanded linking capabilities. According to the announcement, EMBASE.com, which is positioned as "the Intelligent Gateway to Biomedical and Pharmacological Information," allows customers to search more than 15 million EMBASE and MEDLINE bibliographic records simultaneously using a sophisticated, intuitive interface. Linking enables users to move from bibliographic records directly to the full text of the cited articles from multiple STM publishers.

According to the company, the Quick Search functionality has been redesigned to offer novice searchers even more flexibility and ease of use.A wider range of limit options allows easier retrieval of the most relevant documents. In addition to preferred-term mapping, explosion, and keyword-focusing techniques, experienced searchers can use new Advanced Search features, such as pull-down field indexes and searchable look-ups. A new plain-text downloading option permits users to capture records in a generic format that's readable on all computer platforms.

In addition to links to more than 15 publishers, EMBASE.com further extends its reach to full text by offering DOI linking to the full text from more than 100 publishers through CrossRef. Seamless integration with the Infotrieve document delivery service also allows users to order articles online.
