Website Pros to Acquire NetObjects, Inc.

Website Pros, Inc., a provider of Web site design and support services, has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire substantially the assets of NetObjects, Inc. NetObjects will sell NetObjects Fusion, NetObjects Matrix, and GoBizGo to Website Pros. Along with the newsgroupsand other services, Website Pros will assume management of the http://www.netobjects.com site in the U.S., Germany, and the U.K. Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com), the developer of ColdFusion, Dreamweaver, HomeSite, and other Web design and development products, has purchased the NetObjects portfolio of patents.

Since 1995, over 5 million Web sites have been built using NetObjects' products and services. More than 10 million copies of NetObjects Fusion have been bundled by the industry's major brands, including Dell, Deutsche Telekom, EarthLink, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM. After 2 years of development, NetObjects recently launched NetObjects Matrix, a next-generation online platform for providing Web services to small businesses through distribution partners.

"Website Pros has been in a unique position to evaluate Web site building platforms," said David Brown, Website Pros' president and CEO. "As we worked with our 26 enterprise partners to help them evaluate and offer technology solutions, it became clear that NetObjects had the only platform powerful enough to meet the demands of our partners and their small-business customers today and well into the future." Website Pros has built more than 40,000 Web sites for small-business customers of key partners such as Dell, Office Depot, and Verizon.

"We can now offer Website Pros' award-winning customer care and Web site design solutions and the NetObjects technology platform in one seamless, integrated package that helps our partners improve customer satisfaction and loyalty and fuel revenue growth."

The acquisition, subject to customary closing conditions, has been approved by the board of directors of both companies and was expected to close by November 30. Website Pros is working to ensure a smooth transition for NetObjects Fusion and Matrix customers and partners.
