Your intranet rollout: launchpad for training
by Rita Vine

Focuses on training employees to use a company intranet. States that for employees to use an intranet effectively, they need training as well as persuasion and proof of how the technology fits within and benefits their work lives. Says that to build this understanding, intranet training must be part of a marketing and communication process that seeks to modify employees' work behavior in a persistent yet genial and supportive manner. Observes that good training is more that just show-and-tell or hands-on practice, as training exercises must show employees how to accomplish an important work activity quickly using the intranet. Notes that good training involves follow-up activities, along with reinforcement through communication vehicles such as e-mail newsletters, small intranet contests with mini-prizes, and an intranet suggestion box.
