Intranet toolkit review: Factiva Server Software 3.0
by Susan Feldman & Judy Boggess

Presents a mixed review of Factiva Server Software 3.0 ($NA). Says that intranet toolkits are new products and still are works in progress and advises to examine any purchases to be sure the investment is not undone by an upcoming release. Relates that the software is designed to make it easy for organizations to incorporate customized news delivery into their own intranet, and to make both Dow Jones information and internal information accessible. Cautions that the software is normally installed on a separate server because it may clash with other applications, particularly those using SQL queries. Notes that Factiva appears to supply both tools and resources to create a clear and easy-to-use information network. Concludes that in order to become a power in the Web-based workplace, the adaptability of the product to custom development and collaborative tools needs to be addressed.
