 Chris has been leading Chris Olson & Associates for nearly 30 years. Her consulting practice is dedicated to helping information service and knowledge professionals with their marketing, brand management and communications. Chris enjoys applying her marketing savvy, creative ideas, and energies to interesting projects -- especially those requiring innovative thinking, 360 degree perspectives, and complex, original solutions. She currently advises on branding strategies for the Knowledge Discovery/Knowledge Management group at Merck, and assists with promoting the point-of-care services delivered by the Georgetown University Library Hospital informationist to the Georgetown University Hospital doctors and nurses. Chris consults to the InterContinental Hotels Group in Atlanta, advising on strategies for the internal information service called iSite which she branded and launched, and she is developing the ISG brand and web site for the Information Services Group at Vale, a nickel mining company in Toronto, Canada. Chris continues to consult to the global business intelligence team at Johnson & Johnson, where for more than 10 years she has advised and participated in developing and promoting the internal global web portal called Signal. Chris is the Past President of the SLA Maryland Chapter (2009) and recipient of the Chapter's 2010 Chapter Champion Award. in 2012 Chris was named a Fellow of SLA. She recently wrote a chapter about library branding strategies for the forthcoming book "Marketing Your Library: Tips and Tools" being published in 2012 by McFarland publishers. Chris has an BA in Art History, an MLS and MBA. She enjoys working in her gardens around her home on the Eastern Shore of Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. |
